35mm (24mm on APS-C) is wide enough for a street corner and tight enough for a person. It is quieter and smaller than a zoom, which is the whole point. f/1.8 is enough; f/1.4 is weight you will feel by dinner.

What to look for: 35mm full-frame equivalent, f/2 or faster, compact. Autofocus is nice; zone-focusing with a small prime still works.

Skip it if: you already like your 28–70 kit zoom and you actually carry it. A 35mm is a size-and-discretion upgrade, not a requirement.

A backpack says tourist and takes two hands to open. A small sling keeps the camera on you, one zipper from the street, and still holds a bottle and a spare card.

What to look for: Room for body + one prime, a flat profile, a zipper you can open with one hand. Peak Design Everyday Sling-class.

Stock straps cut. A wide, grippy strap (Peak Design Slide-class, or a simple wind-up wrist strap for crowded metros) is why the camera stays on you instead of in the bag.

What to look for: Quick-disconnect, wide webbing, not branded like a billboard if you prefer to stay quiet.

Night streets, a cafe table, a wall. A pocket tripod is enough for a 1-second cityscape and it fits the sling. A travel tripod is overkill for this kit.

What to look for: Manfrotto Pixi-class, with a phone clamp only if you also shoot a phone.

USB charging bodies can sip from a power bank on a train. It also charges the phone you are using for maps. One brick, two jobs.

What to look for: 20,000 mAh-class with USB-C PD if your camera charges that way. Airport-legal.
