A compact drone
$$$$This is the one kit where the “body” is the gear. A Mini-class DJI (or similar) is the honest starting aircraft: enough quality for stills and video, light enough to pack, and less hassle in many jurisdictions than heavier quads. Check local registration and airspace rules before you buy.
What to look for: A current Mini-class or mid-size quad with a 1-inch or better sensor if you can, obstacle sensing, and a controller you can read in sun. Skip generation numbers — buy the current Mini Pro-class model.
Skip it if: you already own a flyable camera drone. Put the money into ND filters and spare batteries instead of a second aircraft.
